Infection Control Practice (ICP)  in the Dental Office Hybrid

Online Portion: Jan 2 - Jan 16 (Must be completed prior to attending clinical portion)
Clinical Portion (NHTI):  Saturday, January 16, 2021, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

With online and hands-on components, course topics include barrier techniques, limiting contamination, hand washing, handling of sharps, sterilization, disinfection, and disposal of waste materials. Participants must complete assignments online prior to the clinical portion. Course not designed to meet annual OSHA training requirements.  Course not required for dental assistant graduates from ADA accredited programs).  $224 - Register here

Preliminary Oral Inspection (POI) of the Oral Cavity Hybrid

Online Portion: Jan 2 - Jan 16 (Must be completed prior to attending clinical portion)
Clinical Portion (NHTI):  Saturday, January 16, 2021, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This covers the Introduction to Dental Assisting in 302.06. With online and hands-on components, this course prepares dental assistants to perform a preliminary oral inspection on patients and includes taking medical/dental histories, obtaining/reading vital signs, basic oral anatomy and terminology, and dental charting. CPHDH Medical Management in Public Health Dental Settings
ONLINE:  Saturday, January 23, 2021, 9am - 4pm

This course addresses systemic conditions and diseases with emphasis on dental hygiene treatment planning, the management of dental and medical emergencies in alternative dental settings and includes a pharmacology review for common disease states. An update on the “new normal” for infection control procedures and use of preprocedural mouth rinses.  $249 - Register here

Dental Sealants Hybrid
Online portion: Feb 6 - Feb 27, 2021 (Must be completed prior to attending clinical portion)

Clinical Portion (AT NHTI): Saturday, February 27, 2021, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm

Lecture and clinical sessions provide an in-depth study of dental sealants. Upon satisfactory completion of the course, the participant will be qualified to legally apply sealants in NH. A patient requiring sealants on at least four occlusal surfaces must be provided by the participant. Patients under 12 years of age will need instructor approval. Individuals will work on extracted, sterile teeth. $297 - Register here

Dental Office Emergencies - Is Your Team Prepared
Clinic at NHTI:  Saturday, February 13, 2021, 8:30am - 12:30pm

Lecture and practice drills will focus on the prevention and management of medical emergencies in the dental office. Common systemic conditions, etiologies of disease, and risk assessment will be discussed.   $120 - Register here

EFDA - Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary Certification Program
Online CANVAS: February 15th with weekly assignments and online classes.

Clinical NHTI: Sundays, Mar 7-May 9 8:00am – 5:00pm

Intensive NHTI: Tues – Fri Mar 16 – 19 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Clinical Externship: 120 hours by Nov  30 with Sponsoring Dentist

The EFDA certification qualifies certified dental assistants and hygienists to place, contour, and adjust the materials used in restorative procedures, following the removal of decay by the dentist. After completing NHTI’s 270-hour training program, which includes 120 hours of clinical training with a sponsoring dentist, EFDA candidates must register with the N.H. Board of Dental Examiners. The candidate must work under the direct supervision of a licensed New Hampshire dentist and complete the required annual continuing education coursework.    $7500 - Register here

CPHDH Evidence Based Dentistry for the Dental Professional
ONLINE:  Saturday, February 27th, 2021, 8:30am - 3:30pm (Course will open Monday 2/15)

The course will include lecture and PPT slides, discussion, and demonstrations of techniques to conduct online searches to find the best levels of evidence available to answer clinical questions and discover implementation and other relevant types of evidence to inform public health professionals seeking to design, deliver, and appraise dental public health programs. Included in the course will be opportunities for attendees to conduct searches to answer clinical questions, as well as program component, delivery and appraisal questions. During the course attendees will be required to conduct their own guided online searches and to report back to the group their findings. The instructor will be available throughout these exercises to provide assistance, as needed.  $199 - Register here


Orthodontic Duties for the Dental Assistant

Clinical Portion (AT NHTI): Saturday, April 17, 2021, 8:30 am to 5:30pm

Hands on!  This course qualifies the orthodontic dental assistant to perform those expanded orthodontic duties designated by the NH Board of Dental Examiners. $265 - Register here

Monitoring Nitrous Oxide Use (Hybrid)

Online portion: April 17 - May 1, 2021 (Must be completed prior to attending clinical portion)

Clinical (NHTI CAMPUS):  Saturday,  May 1, 2021 - 8:30am - 1:30pm

This course prepares dental assistants and dental hygienists to monitor nitrous oxide use during dental procedures.  Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will meet the qualifications stipulated by the NH Board of Dental Examiners.  $224 - Register here

Techniques in Dental Radiology

Online portion: April 26 - June 19, 2021

Clinical (NHTI CAMPUS):  Saturdays, May 8, May 22, June 5 & June 19 - 8:30am - 5:30pm

On-line lectures and learning activities are coordinated with laboratory practice to develop dental radiographic techniques. Students are required to schedule two clients. Techniques covered include: digital radiography, processing, mounting and evaluating films. Emphasis placed on client and operator protection, exposure and processing errors, asepsis protocol, radiographic techniques and equipment function. Following this course, passing of RHS portion of DANB exam is required according to NH law.  $1195 - Register here
